Pool Cleaning in Madeira Beach, FL

Madeira Beach is two miles of barrier island with the Gulf on one side and Boca Ciega Bay on the other, and almost every pool here sits somewhere in between. That location is the whole appeal. It is also the reason pools in 33708 need a different maintenance approach than pools five miles inland.

Alpha Pool Service is a local, independently owned pool company based in St. Petersburg, minutes across the causeway. We service Madeira Beach weekly, from the Gulf-front properties along Gulf Boulevard to the canal-front homes on Crystal Island, Mitchell's Beach, Bay Point Estates, and the Gulf Shores additions. We know what salt spray, wind-blown sand, and heavy rental turnover do to a pool, because we clean up after all three every week.

Local Pool Service for a Barrier Island

There is no such thing as a sheltered pool in Madeira Beach. On a two-mile-wide island, everything gets weather. Gulf-side properties near Archibald Memorial Beach Park take direct salt spray and blown sand off the beach. Bay-side and canal-front homes get less sand but more organic debris, more standing humidity, and more equipment sitting close to brackish water. Homes near John's Pass Village deal with both, plus foot traffic and the wind funnel coming through the pass.

We adjust service to where your pool actually is, not to a generic island-wide checklist. Same technician, same day each week, so somebody who knows your pool is the one looking at it.

The Three Things That Wreck Madeira Beach Pools

Salt spray off the Gulf

Gulfport and other bay-side communities deal with salt air. Madeira Beach deals with salt spray, which is a different order of magnitude. Airborne salt settles on pump housings, heater cabinets, filter clamps, light rings, handrails, and ladder anchors. It pulls moisture out of the air and holds it against metal. Left alone, it turns a five-year pump into a three-year pump.

Every visit, we inspect equipment for early corrosion, rinse down salt accumulation on the pad, and flag hardware before it seizes. Catching a corroding pump seal in month two costs a fraction of replacing the pump in month nine.

Blown sand

This one is specific to the beach side of the county and it is badly underestimated. Fine Gulf sand blows across pool decks and settles in the deep end, in the skimmer throat, in the pump basket, and eventually into the filter. Sand does three things: it abrades plaster and pebble finishes when it is brushed carelessly, it grinds pump seals and impellers, and it blinds a cartridge filter far faster than ordinary dirt.

We vacuum sand out rather than stirring it into suspension, brush with the surface type in mind, and inspect and clean filters on a schedule that reflects real sand load instead of a calendar default. Our pool filter cleaning service and pool wall brushing pages go into more detail on both.

Rebuilt and re-equipped pools

Helene and Milton put saltwater, sand, and debris into a large share of Madeira Beach pools in 2024, and the island is still working through the aftermath. A lot of pools here have been drained, remediated, resurfaced, or fitted with new equipment on raised pads within the last two years.

Freshly resurfaced plaster has different chemistry needs than twenty-year-old plaster. New equipment often carries warranty conditions that depend on documented maintenance. If your pool has been rebuilt since the storms, tell us during the walkthrough. We will handle startup chemistry correctly and keep service records you can hand to a manufacturer if you ever need to make a claim.

Vacation Rental and Second-Home Pool Service

Madeira Beach has a high concentration of short-term rentals and seasonal owners, and rental pools are their own category of work.

Rental pools run high bather loads in short bursts. Sunscreen, sand tracked in from the beach, and heavy weekend use burn through chlorine, drive up cyanuric acid, and push pH out of range faster than a family pool ever would. A schedule that works fine for a residential pool in Seminole will not keep a six-guest rental clear in August.

What we do for rental and second-home owners:

  • Turnover-aware scheduling. Tell us your changeover day and we will service ahead of check-in where the route allows.
  • Photo confirmation after each visit, so out-of-state owners can see the pool is guest-ready without calling anyone.
  • Direct communication with your property manager or cleaning company, not a phone tree.
  • Faster response on guest complaints, because a cloudy pool on a Saturday is a refund request by Sunday.
  • Off-season monitoring for owners who are north from May to October, so you do not come back to a green pool in November.

Services for Madeira Beach Pool Owners

  • Weekly pool maintenance. Skim, brush, vacuum, empty skimmer and pump baskets, test and balance water, and inspect the full equipment pad. On a barrier island, weekly is the right interval for almost every pool. Biweekly is available where it genuinely fits.
  • Chemical balancing for coastal and high-use pools. Testing at every visit with adjustments made for your surface type, sanitizer system, and actual bather load. More on our approach on the pool water treatment page.
  • Salt cell service and replacement. Saltwater systems are common here and cells scale faster in hard, warm water. We clean on schedule, monitor output, and tell you a cell is nearing end of life before it fails, not after.
  • Sand and debris removal. Deep-end sand, palm and sea grape debris, and post-storm cleanup. See pool leaf traps for how we handle heavy organic load.
  • Small repairs and equipment care. Pump priming issues, filter service, chlorinator maintenance, minor plumbing leaks, and corrosion-related hardware replacement.
  • Green-to-clean rescue. Algae recovery on neglected or storm-affected pools, typically 3 to 7 days, with the price agreed up front.

FAQs

Do you service Madeira Beach every week? Yes. Madeira Beach is on our regular weekly route, along with Treasure Island and the rest of our Pinellas County service area.

Do you handle vacation rental pools? Yes, and it is a meaningful share of what we do on the island. We schedule around turnover days and send photo confirmation after each visit.

Can you service my pool while I am out of state? Yes. Many of our Madeira Beach clients are seasonal or second-home owners. We handle access, service, and reporting without you being there.

How do you deal with sand in the pool? We vacuum it out rather than brushing it into suspension, and we inspect filters more often than an inland schedule would call for, because sand clogs a cartridge much faster than ordinary debris.

My pool was damaged in the 2024 storms and rebuilt. Can you take it on? Yes. Tell us what was replaced and when it was resurfaced. New plaster and new equipment need specific handling in the first year, and we will keep service records for your warranty.

Do you service saltwater pools? Yes, including salt cell cleaning, output testing, and replacement.

How fast can you fix a green pool? Most green-to-clean recoveries run 3 to 7 days depending on severity. We quote the full cost before we start.

Do you work with condo associations and HOAs in Madeira Beach? Yes. Contact us for association pricing.

What does weekly service cost? It depends on pool size, surface, equipment, and tree or sand exposure. Call for a free quote and we will give you a flat monthly number.
